Rebecca Hall, Alan Rickman, “Game of Thrones” star Richard Madden and rising British actress Shannon Tarbet are set to star in romantic drama “A Promise”, according to Britain’s The Daily Mail. French director Patrice Leconte is set to make his English-language debut on the film, which is an adaptation of Austrian writer Stefan Zweig’s novella “Journey into the past.”

Seth in the early 20th century, the story follows a young man Ludwig (Madden), who goes to work for a wealthy older man (Rickman) and ends up falling for his wife (Hall). The two are separated by circumstance and the First World War, and their relationship is tested when they meet again nine years later. No word on who British stage actress Tarbet will play, but filming will begin soon.

Hall first caught audiences’ attention when she starred in Woody Allen’s “Vicky Christina Barcelona”, in which she played Vicky to Scarlett Johansson’s Christina, and then opposite Michael Sheen in Ron Howard’s Oscar nominated “Frost/Nixon.” The prolific British actress is currently shooting “Iron Man 3″ opposite Robert Downey, Jr.

Madden, who plays Robb Stark on hit HBO series “Game of Thrones”, began showing up on shortlists for high profile roles in recent months along with his similarly-aged co-stars, and was last seen in miniseries “Birdsong” opposite Eddie Redmayne. He’s attached to indie drama “Long Nighs Short Mornings.”
