I was very sad that Richard wouldn’t be in future seasons but according to this article, they plan on jumping ahead 20 years to one of his descendants.

What will happen in Medici: Masters of Florence season 2?

The first season charted the rise Cosimo de’ Medici (Game Of Thrones’ Richard Madden), who became head of the Medici family after his father Giovanni (Dustin Hoffman) was murdered.

Through flashbacks, viewers learned how Giovanni schemed his way into power and pressured his sons into joining the family business.

Frank Spotnitz, the show’s co-creator, explained: “Season one is really about Cosimo’s journey.

“For a time we decided to begin with Lorenzo ‘the Magnificent’ because in many ways his life represents the pinnacle of Medici achievement: the High Renaissance, Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Botticelli.

“But ultimately [we] decided to begin Season one with Giovanni and his son Cosimo.

“Now we are going to jump forward in time about 20 years for season two to tell the story of Lorenzo ‘the Magnificent’, and we’re actually anticipating that that will take two seasons.”

“In our story we emphasise his love of art and how he used his power and influence as head of the Medici bank to foster the revolutionary art that led to the Renaissance.”

Spotnitz has revealed that season 2 will jump ahead 20 years and will focus on Lorenzo ‘the Magnificent’, Cosimo’s grandson who reigned for more than 20 years but drove the family bank to ruin.

He told Variety: “When we first tackled this, we weren’t really sure where to begin the saga of the Medici.

Bastille Day, Richard’s film from 2016, was renamed due to a terrorist attack in Nice:

Idris Elba’s high-octane action flick Bastille Day has been renamed ahead of its delayed DVD and Blu-ray release on 17th October.

Now referred to as The Take, the film was originally due for release on 29th August 2016 but this was put back following the truck attack in Nice which claimed 84 lives.
